About

Many people get caught up in the idea that being a musician is like belonging to an elite club for only certain specially talented people. Travis’s approach to teaching is based on the belief that creating music is for everybody. Some elements of it will come more easily to you, and some will be more challenging, but with time, determination, and the right guidance, anyone can learn. In your lessons, Travis will work with you to discover the unique artist within, with a focus on cultivating your strengths and achieving your goals.

Travis Corwin has been performing music professionally since 2007 and teaching since 2012. He graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor’s of Music in Classical Guitar Performance, where he also studied jazz guitar, composition, and music production. He has extensive experience performing and teaching in a wide variety of styles including rock, pop, folk, classical, jazz, metal, and more.

Travis is currently living in Renton, WA and working as the singer, guitarist, and primary songwriter for the progressive rock band Antinode.

Testimonials

Travis is an absolutely first-class guitar teacher. I have been meeting with Travis somewhat routinely over the last couple years, both via in-person instruction and remote live video instruction. Every step of the way Travis has struck me as one of the most authentic, positive, and patient people I’ve ever met.

Travis’s ability to structure lessons that both cater to my musical interests while also incorporating lessons that help me to build a foundational knowledge and also form good habits has been more than I ever could have hoped for in a guitar teacher.

I would highly recommend Travis to anyone who is considering signing up for guitar lessons, or any of the other instruments that Travis plays!

Travis helped me succeed in all of my ukulele performances this past year. He is patient, kind and always positive. He always has a smile on his face when we practice. He really listens to me even though I am a kid.

Travis Corwin is a wonderful instructor. Unfailingly patient and upbeat, he is able to make learning ukulele a positive and enjoyable experience. I still can not believe that he taught our son how to play the ukulele entirely online. We love working with him!

Travis Corwin is a superb and outstanding music instructor. I have been his student for 2+ years and made great strides in terms of progress on the guitar.

He is a patient and thorough instructor and guides the student through the theory and practice of the guitar, both in face-to-face lessons and on remote lessons via zoom. Travis addresses each new song as a new challenge and source of new learning for the student. You can actually watch your skills and capability develop as Travis guides you through the measures and steps of each song.

Thoroughly recommend this gentleman as your prospective instructor!

If you would like to book a lesson, contact Travis or use the form below to sign up for a session with the online calendar. The online calendar shows the days and times that are available but does not include a payment option. Payment is due at the time of service via PayPal, Venmo, or you can use the purchase section of this website to purchase lessons with credit card or Google Pay.

Our First Lesson

Virtual lessons may be attended on any computer or mobile device that has internet connectivity (with adequate data, if applicable) and video chat functionality. After you schedule your first lesson, you will receive an email with a link to our Zoom session, as well as additional instructions to streamline the process. Sometime before our first lesson, please test the link to make sure that it works on your chosen device.

Also take a moment to think about what you want to get out of our lessons. What style of music are you interested in playing? What skills are you interested in developing? Do you have any specific songs that you want to learn, or artists whose music you would like to explore? What does success on your instrument look like to you? It’s okay if you don’t have answers to all of these questions, but the more that we can direct our lessons toward your specific goals, the more you are likely to get from our time together.

Cancellations/Refunds

If you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson, please give at least 24 hours notice. If you do not give 24 hours notice, you will be charged the full cost of the lesson.

Unused lesson credits may be refunded for the full purchase price minus a 3% processing fee.
